The manufacturer not only did what the FDA suggested, but sent a letter to every doctor and hospital that had ever used one of its devices.That letter (which came back to haunt everyone) stated that "[t]he safety and effectiveness of the C.P. stent is unknown at this time; therefore [the manufacturer] is concerned that patients receive appropriate follow-up care.
